Price

Most of the Vitrifigo truck refrigerator that are used by many truckers and travelers are around the cost of $500 to $700. So that value is an excellent value for what you get.

The Vitrifrigo Truck Refrigerator is comparatively simple in design. The compressor is built into the upper rear edge of the refrigerator. And then the freezer is just a metal case/shell. So that is not separated from the rest of the fridge.

Because that is accurately how the fridge works, the freezer shell is the evaporator that truly cools the whole fridge. The freezer section itself is pretty tiny. There is a single knob inside the refrigerator that controls the temperature.

You cannot set it to a precise temperature, but just a “Min”> “Max” range (Max = coldest).

Reliability And Durability

There are commonly two areas of reliability and durability to worry about in a truck refrigerator; the compressor and just everything else!

The “everything else” section includes the fridge compartment itself, shelves, handles, latches, etc. Again, we found that the materials used are of sufficient quality. Most refrigerator is made primarily of plastic with metal parts in a few key places. For example, the door railing, middle shelf, hinges, door latch mechanism, and freezer compartment are all made from metal.

The only weak point is the freezer door. It is a very thin piece of plastic, and the knobs that keep the refrigerator closed are not very durable (although gravity still keeps the door closed). And the freezer door doesn’t provide some kind of seal. The rear of the freezer has some clearance from the rear wall through which air can pass. But the fact the freezer compartment is not fully sealed from the fridge section and the door has no insulation prevents the fridge and freezer from gaining greater separation of temperatures. Although this is somewhat problematic it does not take away the exception overall quality of the truck refrigerator.

Storage Capacity

This truck refrigerator is small but fair enough for two people living in a truck full-time. Of course, we have to be a little selective about what we purchase, avoiding substantial, bulky items. But we can stock up and eat fresh food for about one and a half to 2 weeks.

Defrosting

The freezer compartment should be defrosted at regular intervals. It depends on the humidity you are in. But we also found out that in the American Southwest, we need to defrost around every 1 to 3 months.

Overall, we think the Vitrifrigo truck refrigerator are great refrigerators. It is the cheapest fridge we could find with a freezer.

It is reasonably not the most rugged refrigerator on the market (for instance, Engel or ARB). But it is not certainly geared towards off-roading at the first pace. And it usually holds up just excellent to travel on rugged dirt roads. Additionally, the 2-year warranty is incredible considering the affordable price.

Warranty

Vitrifrigo has a 2-year warranty on their refrigerators. It’s not the longest in the industry, but it’s better than the 1-year or less warranty from cheap Chinese refrigerator manufacturers. And we can vouch for their warranty since we had to use it when our refrigerator broke.
